Activities for the year 2019-2020 : 

Our college has runs Two units of National Service Scheme successfully.

We have conducted many activities from our college and outside areas.

As per the University of Madras National Service Scheme norms, our college adopted Tholudavur village from Tiruvallur District. We had conducted special camp programme which was held from 12-02-2020 to 18-02-2020.

We have conducted the following programmes:

1. Prevention of Leprosy disease
2. Prevention of Elephantiasis disease
3. Awareness programme for avoidance of usage of Plastic
4. Awareness programme for drunken drive of vehicles and its impacts.
5. Awareness programme for wearing Helmet.
6. Programme for National Voters day
7. Tree plantation programme
8. Clean India awareness programme
9. Conducted medical camp for Sugar, Dental and eye screening for the students and faculty members of our college.
10. Special programmes for National leaders birthday anniversaries of Dr.Ambedkar, Bharathiyar, Dr.Abdul kalam and Sardar Vallabai Patel.
11. Conducted various the following competitions for students for the celebration of Indian Constitution day :
12. Tamil Oratorial , Poetry and composition and also distributed certificates and prizes to the participants.
13. Also we have conducted Blood donation camp jointly with Kasthuribai Hospital,

             Triplicane, our students donated 67 units of blood to the hospital.

Activities for the academic year 2020-21

26^th Nov 2020: Event on celebration of Constitution Day, organized by University of Madras through online.  Event was presided by the Chief Guest Honorable Justice P N Prakash – Judge (Madras High Court), participated by Program officers.

13^th Jan 2021:  Event on topic “Bottles of Change”, organized by University of Madras through online.  Guest of honor Mrs. Anjana Ghosh – Director Bisleri International Pvt. Ltd, Fourteen students from our college participated the event. 

29^th Jan 2021:  Event on topic “Pledge towards untouchability”, organized by Dr. Ambedkar Government Arts College, Chennai. Forty students participated in taking oath.

13^th Feb 2021: We organized activity on “Campus Cleaning”.  Seventy-Five students participated in campus cleaning activity.

17^th Feb 2021: Event on “Road safety awareness”, conducted at Rajarathinam Stadium – Chennai. Guest of honor Mr. Mukesh Agarwal – Chennai Commissioner.   Fourteen students participated in the event.

25^th Feb 2021: Event on “Inclusion on organ donation awareness program”, organized by University of Madras through online.  Guest of honor Mrs. Ishwaraya – Mohan Foundation, only program officers participated.

8^th Mar 2021:   Event on “International Women’s Day”, organized by NSS Unit Dr. Ambedkar College along with Women empowerment cell.  Guest of honor Dr. R. Sumathy – Principal (Dr. Ambedkar Govt. Arts College, Chennai).  Fifty women staff and students participated.

12^th Mar 2021: Celebration of India’s 75^th year of Independence at Gandhi Mandapam. Seven students participated the event.

5^th to 7^th April 2021: Helping hand rendered by our students for state election.  Fourteen students rendered their service.

NSS volunteers along with Chennai volunteers and with Greater Chennai Corporation organized a virtual even on “Tele calling Project of outbound call to COVID patients in home isolation to check on their mental and emotional wellness).  Our students “R. Sujay, S. Gowtham & N. Swetha” participated in the month of April 2021.

28^th April 2021: Event on CoVID 19 action program, organized by University of Madras.  Guest of honor Prof. Gowri – VC (University of Madras) through online.  Program officers participated the event.

18^th May 2021: Online workshop on topic “Guidance for psychological counselling and Helper skill” organized by University of Madras in collaboration with Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education.  Guest of honor Prof.S. Gowri – VC (University of Madras).  Program officers participated.

25^th to 27^th May 2021: Workshop on topic “Psychological First Aid” organized by Department of Counselling Psychology & NSS unit of University of Madras.  Four students participated the workshop.

May 2021: Pledge on take action against COVID 19, become a “Young Warrior”. Thirty four students participated and got the certificate.

18^th June 2021: Topic on “How to de-stress one-self during COVID pandemic”, organized by Field Outstretch Bureau – Vellore & NSS unit of University of Madras along with DKM College for Women – Vellore through online.  Program Officers and students participated.

21^st June 2021: Event on celebrating “International Yoga Day”, organized by NSS Unit & Dept. of Physical Education – Dr. Ambedkar Govt. Arts College, Chennai.  Guest of Honor Dr. R. Sumathy – Principal (Dr. Ambedkar Govt. Arts College).

21^st June 2021:  Webinar on “Yoga to boost immunity and combat COVID 19” organized by NSS unit of University of Madras.  Guest of Honor Prof. S. Gowri – VC (University of Madras).  Participated by program officers.

 Pugazhendhi – II B. Sc., Chemistry has got selected to attend one week (20^th to 26^th March 2021) NSS National Camp at Jaipur, Rajasthan by participating in 75^th year of independence on behalf of University of Madras and won 2^nd prize in cultural event.

Our students participated in events conducted by other colleges like webinar and e-quiz and got the certificate.

Our College NSS  conducting  2  units, which was Recognised by University of Madras. From 2020 July onwards   200 volunteers  working under the administration  of 2 programme officers  Dr.V.Ravichandran  Assistant professor and Head of the department of Commerce and  Mrs.T.Uma , Assistant  professor  of Statistics department.  From the inception our NSS volunteers  participating many social activities within our college campus and also participated various  programmes  organised by  University of Madras and other  organisations.
