The department of Statistics was established in the year 2012.The department offers courses with comprehensive combination of Statistics, Computer Applications, Mathematics and Operations Research. The department helps the students to acquire conceptual, computational and statistical tools for quantifying uncertainty and making sense of complex data arising from many disciplines.  Introduced Two skill-based elective courses R programming and Data Analysis using MS – Excel and SPSS at V and VI semester, to impart the skill of data analysis to the students.

Aim of the DEPARTMENT

• Department of statistics aims to inculcate students to construct practical statistical models for several process in the real world
• Department aims to provide students with life oriented education through the learning of statistical methods tools which improve students ability to analyze various type of real life data
• To develop ethical and social responsibility as research, the students will be able to identify ethical issue, avoid us ethical behaviors such as fabrication, falsification or misinterpretation of data

VISION of the DEPARTMENT:

The vision of statistics department is to create responsive and sensitive statisticians, not only focus on importing subject knowledge and skills, but also to mould the students with better conduct and character.

Mission of the DEPARTMENT:

• To be innovative and Able to develop the ability to think, to formulate new problems and provide ultimate solutions
• To provide a solid ground in the best practices of collating and disseminating information
• To familiarize students with computation technique and software used in the statistical arena
• To prepare graduates who are not only statistically sound but also capable of using their appropriate skill in interdisciplinary area
• To enable each individual to be ready to meet the scientific and technological demand and to face the emerging challenges to the knowledge area

PROGRAMME SPECIFIC OUTCOMES (PSO)

PSO1: Compare the facts in theoretical and practical skill/knowledge in their program domain of Statistics. 

PSO2: Pursue Higher Education to Develop and Design Analytical skills in the fields of Statistical Applications 

PSO3: Classify as a leader with a sound moral, Professional and ethical value by applying the skill of Statistical tools and acquired knowledge.   

PSO4: Develop an intense for lifelong learning and determine to adapt to emerging technical language in the field of Statistics and Mathematic/Data Science 

PSO5: Importance of relationship to perceive an excellent, interpersonal and communication skills to take part in the work effectively as individuals and to extend the support to organize in team.           

PSO6: Emerge as a responsible citizen by using the proper statistical tool while extract the inferences based on the facts and serving the society and saving the environment
