Minutes of the Meeting of Board of Studies in B.Sc., Plant Biology and Plant Biotechnology, NME and Allied Botany
- Meeting of the Board of Studies in Plant Biology and Plant Biotechnology was held on Friday, 03rd June 2022 at 10.30 AM in the Department of Plant Biology and Plant Biotechnology.
- The Curriculum was revised based guidelines laid down by UGC – Learning Outcomes based Curriculum Framework (LOCF) and State Council for Higher Education (TANSCHE)
- The members of the Board discussed the course content in details and incorporated necessary changes.
- The following are the highlights of the changes introduced in the syllabus
- Introduced three more Major Core electives such as Herbal Botany, Water Management and Horticulture
- Revised the Non Major Elective courses such as Applied Botany, Techniques in Botany, Bioresource management and Economic Botany
- the title of the course changed from Phycology to Alcology
- laid down the detailed syllabus for all the Botany practical courses
- In Bryophytes and Pteridopytes course, was added the economic importance Pteridophytes
- In Gymnosperms and Paleobotany course added the Origin seed habit in Unit –I, Contributions of Birbal Sahni in Unit –II, and include the case study fossil plant Lyginopteris
- Introduced the ‘Tissue systems: Epidermal tissue system: Ground tissue systems; Vascular tissue system’s in Anatomy and Embryology
- Introduced the Linkage: Types and significance, in Genetics, Evolution and Plant Breeding course.
- Added the Chromosomes – structure, number and types, in Cell and Molecular Biology course.
- Introduced the Northern blotting, Electroporation, liposome mediated gene transfer and edible vaccines in Plant Biotechnology and Bioinformatics
- This syllabus is approved and decided to implement it with effect from the academic year 2022-23 onwards.
