The Department of Computer Science was started with B.Sc. Computer Science in the year 1992. B.Sc. Computer Science – II shift was started in the year 2006 and is functioning well. The B.Sc. Computer Science programme is now being offered in two shifts with the sanctioned strength of 30 each.

The outstanding feature of the department is the Quality of the graduates, it turns out. The M.Sc Computer Science programme was introduced in the year 2012-2013 and is functioning well. The admission is based on the marks obtained in their +2/Degree examination and communal roster. Most of the students are from in and around Vyasarpadi and they belong to economically weaker sections of the society. These programmes are offered to the students with the main motive of academic excellence and industrial competence.

a. Providing a strong theoretical and practical background across the computer science discipline with an emphasis on software development.
b. Imparting the skills necessary to continue education to grow professional.
c. Inculcate the professional behavior, strong ethical values, innovative research capabilities and leadership abilities.

UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMME SPECIFIC OUTCOMES (PSO)

Upon graduation student of Dr. Ambedkar Government Arts college will be able to

PSO1: Gain in-depth knowledge in Computer Science and apply theoretical and practical knowledge in practice for solving real world problems in Computer Science.

PSO2: Develop the knowledge gained in undergraduate Computer Science to pursue higher education.

PSO3: Evolve as leaders and entrepreneurs with sound moral and professional ethical values and apply the knowledge gained in discipline of Computer Science

PSO4: Show interest for lifelong learning and self-learning and adopt to technological advancements in Computer Science.

PSO5: Communicate ideas and information effectively to the audience and contribute in a positive and collaborative manner

PSO6: Understand the concept of environment and the issues in environmental context and manage the  e-waste.

PSO4: Develop unbiased and truthful in all aspects of work and avoiding unethical, irrational behaviour such as fabricating, falsifying or misrepresenting data or committing plagiarism.

PSO5: Evolve as effective leaders who should aware be on Ethics and ethical standards on interpersonal and social levels and to demonstrate integrity on social, cultural and environmental issues
